Foreigners interested in prospects of oil deposits District
Yesterday in the capital of the Nenets Autonomous District Committee, opened the meeting of senior officials of the Council of the Barents Euro-Arctic Region (BEAR). The event takes place at such a level of Naryan-Mar for the first time.
In the capital district brought together representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, European Commission International Barents Secretariat.
As told "RG" Specialist Public Relations NAO administration Dmitry Medvedev, cooperation with countries BEAR district runs from 1993. During this period, realized 12 joint projects. Only last year's contribution from them in the economy of the region exceeded 79 billion rubles - a 32 per cent more than in 2006. For comparison, total foreign investment in 2007
amounted to 832 million dollars. This is mainly invest in the development of fuel and energy complex. Interest in the district from foreign colleagues, experts argue, is increasing annually. This is mainly due to projects to develop oil fields. And this year under BEAR NAO implemented in two more projects - in the field of ethno-national tourism and culture.
Foreigners are paying much attention to the problems of small indigenous peoples living in the territories of the industrial development of oil and gas fields. Thus, under the current meeting is scheduled trip to Ardalinskoe deposit. Its developers have awarded grants and prizes for achievements in the field of ecology. Also scheduled trip to a national settlement Nelmin Nose, where guests get acquainted with the lives of nomadic population NAO.
The meeting will last two days. It will go on new joint projects. The talks BEAR and ELN representatives to identify further development strategy evroarkticheskogo cooperation.
