Flood would not be

The level of water in Obi remains low
For the first time in recent years escaped the edge of flood disasters.
As of June 18, the water level in the Ob in the area of Barnaul is 216 centimeters. As stressed by Head of the Department of Hydrology Altai hydrometeorology Galina Shepilova, such a level typical for October, if the August account for little precipitation. In past years, in mid-June the water level was usually at one and a half meters above the current and reached the mark in centimeters 3607380.
Specialists say that underflooding terrain begins when the water level in the Ob in different territories exceeds 450480 centimetres (around Barnaul critical level is considered a mark of 520 centimeters). This season during the second wave of flood water in the Ob raised to the maximum mark in 476 centimeters. According to experts, the reasons for the calm of spring weather conditions were last winter. Snow began staivat in February, left the water gradually. And although at the time, usually occurs when a second wave of floods, snow in the mountains was enough, flood excesses also did not happen, because in April and May outlier little precipitation. In addition, the periodic return of cold weather this spring has not allowed river water to rise to the critical mark.
Meanwhile, calm spring for many residents of the province, accustomed to periodic spring evacuation, creates difficulties in navigation - for example, in the Novosibirsk Reservoir, the water level below the project marks navigation. Fraught with difficulties "low" and for power: now Novosibirskaya GES drops less water than at the same time in previous years.
