Out underground

70 percent of foreign migrants working illegally
Murmansk region completely chose annual quota on foreign workers.
Specialists fear that next year the situation recur.
In 2008, enterprises in the region were willing to employ 948 nationals from CIS countries and 405 - from abroad. But the quota for guest Region exhausted and now arriving at North foreigners can not obtain a work permit.
And this is despite the fact that many enterprises in the region are experiencing an acute shortage of working hands. Citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Moldova willingly used for malooplachivaemuyu and unskilled work that does not attract northerners. At the same time, as noted in an interview with the correspondent of "WP" specialist regional committee on labour and social protection Maria Orlova, Murmansk region is interested primarily in attracting skilled workers - doctors and engineers.
Now the quota granted to the guest region on the basis of employers' applications.
However, many managers of enterprises, which employed foreign workers, have been slow to apply to the Migration Service.
According to Head of the Federal Migration Service of the Murmansk Region Vladimir Artyomov, sluggish employers has already caused shortages of foreign labour.
True, the region applied for additional quotas, but even the additional forces would not allow foreign workers to meet demand in the region's guest. And the results of the recently concluded collection of applications show: next year Murmansk region could again face a shortage of imported labour.
It is not excluded that in 2009 work permit migrants receive only those enterprises which previously filed an appropriate application. Meanwhile, ha-starbaytery looking for work in the North alone. Total - almost 70 per cent of arrivals to the region, citizens of CIS countries disappear into uncertainty.
